Year 2 project: Covid Centre

Date of the Project: 2020-2021

Project Brief

The Project was set to start in the midst of a global pandemic. Due to the situation happening in the world, students were asked to create a Covid-19 testing and potentially vaccinating point.

Facility must understand:
• The screening/testing process
• Health & safety issues
• Testing protocol
• Privacy and medical facilities/decontamination policy

It is intended that the facility would be able to be deployed anywhere in the world and easily assembled. The building can be constructed using any materials, but the medical spaces must be finished internally with medical grade materials. It should be single storey and utilize sustainable technologies where possible.

As to prefabrication, it is required to be portable, accessible for any person that would require services provided in this facility.

Areas required:
• Testing arrival/holding area with WC
• Test area (supported and self-given testing)
• Medical lab/collation facilities
• Collection/storage facility
• Public information lounge/reception with WC
(separated from testing arrivals)
• Staff area with WC/kitchenette
• Small plant room

Innovative fabrication/assembly technologies to allow rapid deployment. The layout, aesthetic and operational accuracy will be important.
